Wissenschaft im Dialog

MS Science

Every year, the exhibition ship MS Wissenschaft sets off along the waterways of Germany offering an insight into the local research landscape. In the year of science 2016/2017, facts and fiction and Science in Dialogue have designed the exhibition "Ocean and Seas".

We use a catchy narrative to inspire visitors to the diverse world of the oceans and their exploration: visitors become members of a research expedition. They follow authentic scientists on their various missions.

The 600 m² exhibition area in the cargo hold of the old inland vessel contains exhibits from current research. Testing and research are very welcome.

In the "high seas" area it becomes playful. Here two people simultaneously can fish garbage from the ocean on two steering wheels. They have one minute to remove as much rubbish as possible.

Using virtual reality glasses, visitors experience a journey into the deep sea. An impressive, immersive view into a world that is more unexplored than the moon.

How does a deep-sea submarine work? How can creatures survive in the deep sea? Which mineral resources lie dormant at the bottom of the oceans? The topic "Deep Sea" deals with the deep sea as a habitat as well as the opportunities and risks of marine mining.
